Cambodian delegates visit the Social Security Organization

From December 1 to 30, 2005, two delegates from the Cambodian Ministry of Labor Vocational Training, have studied the Lao Social Security System for the formal labor market. MR. SUM SOPHORN, Deputy Director of Social Security Department, led the mission. The delegates have been warmly welcomed by the SSO executives and high-ranking officials.

The purpose of their visit was to learn and exchange experiences regarding institutional management and system operation with SSO, as Cambodian social security system is going to be implemented soon. SSO informed the guests about the Lao social security system, the role and tasks of SSO as well as the challenges the organization is facing with. During the visit, the delegates have also had the opportunity to get practically involved in operational procedures of SSO.

In addition, the Cambodian delegation has paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Labor and Social Welfare and some high-ranking officials in the Ministry.

SSO Executives have expressed their openness for further cooperation between the two countries. Moreover, the SSO Executives also invited the Cambodia side to join ASSA as soon as their social security scheme will start.
